90s babies, get your snacks, soda, a couple of pizzas and your favorite blanket. A reboot of R.L. Stine’s classic “Goosebumps” series is on its way and it’s just in time for spooky season.
The new series, inspired by the author’s Scholastic book series, will only be available on Disney+, Hulu and Freeform.
Five episodes of the new series will premiere on Friday, Oct. 13 on Disney+ and Hulu. The premiere is part of Disney+’s “Hallowstream” and Hulu’s “Huluween” celebrations.
After the first five episodes drop on the 13th, the rest will air weekly.
Fans who want to check out the series but don’t have Disney+ or Hulu can watch the first two episodes on Freeform on Oct. 13.
Stine’s work has inspired television shows and movies for decades, including the original series which ran from 1995 to 1998 and “The Haunting Hour: The Series,” from 2010 to 2014.
The original series focused on new characters in each episode, whereas the new show follows five high schoolers as they put on their investigative hats and look into a teenager’s death three decades earlier.

Which classic tales will play out in the new series?
According to Disney, the reboot pulls from five of Stine’s most popular books, including:
- Say Cheese and Die – A boy finds an old camera and whenever he takes photos with it, something awful happens.
- The Haunted Mask – A girl finds a pretty impressive Halloween mask. When she dons the mask, she terrifies everyone around her. However, she is soon terrified as the mask becomes fused to her face.
- The Cuckoo Clock of Doom – A boy, taunted by his little sister, discovers his father has brought home a clock that allows him to turn back time. Despite being told not to touch it, the boy can’t help himself, leading to dire consequences.
- Go Eat Worms – A boy who is obsessed with worms and keeps a worm farm in his basement tortures those around him. When he hurts one of the worms, he notices the others behaving strangely.
- Night of the Living Dummy – Things get weird and terrifying when a girl gets her hands on a ventriloquist's dummy.
“R.L. Stine’s ‘Goosebumps’ franchise is a pop culture phenomenon that holds a special place in the hearts of people of all ages,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, in a news release.
“We are delighted to bring this spooky new series to audiences everywhere in a big way on Disney+ and Hulu, which we hope will not only captivate new audiences with its elevated thrills and chills, but also lifelong fans nostalgic for the stories that are a staple of their generation.”
